CAS-ual Fridays

Wow. It’s been quite awhile since I joined in with a CAS-ual Friday challenge. But, I was inspired this week so here we go. 🙂

CFC138

When I saw the prompt, I was reminded of a technique where you first stamp in white on kraft, and then you stamp color over it to give it a bit of shadow and add dimension to your card. I have never figured out the name of this technique, so if you know it, drop me a comment, LOL. Here is my card,

The Mini Blooms set from Papertrey Ink is perfect for this because it has a big corner stamp that you can stamp all at once with the white, and then individual stamps that match so you can stamp over the white in color. And a bunch of different colors at that! This card was really fun to make!

Hope you like it!

Hello again today! I have another card I made a couple days ago for the CAS-ual Fridays Shades of Gray Challenge 🙂

cfc129Here is my card,

22I used a scrap sheet of Stamper’s Select White paper and then my trusty blank CD case to stamp on some Smokey Shadow ink to use as water color. Then, I took a paint brush and water and just dabbed on the ink making some places darker with less water and lighter with more water. I didn’t use brush strokes, I simply dabbed up and down like I was dipping a chip in dip…does that make sense? LOL! Then I used my Wonderful Words: Hello Die to die cut the sentiment…added a little Heidi Swapp Tinsel Color Shine Spray to the background, a strip of DP to ground the sentiment and some enamel dots for good measure 🙂

Hope you like it!

DP: Basic Grey 6×6 Paper Pad (from the February SSS card kit)

It’s time for another CAS-ual Fridays Challenge. This challenge,

cfc127is really fun. I opted to go subtle with this one, but I may do another card later…I’m formulating an idea in my head, but we will see if I actually get time to sit down and create it 🙂 Here is my subtle over the edge,

4The leopard print panel goes off the edge slightly on either side. I find I do this a lot, the over the edge bit. It just gives the card a little something extra without really doing a WHOLE lot. You know? LOL.

Hope you like it!

Here is my card:

38I was actually trying a different technique (embossing w/ die cuts) and I just could not get it to work in my BigKick. 😦 Oh well, I think I salvaged my die cut pretty well though. I ended up really liking this card. 🙂

I’m back again today to share the card I made for CAS-ual Friday’s She’s Krafty and She’s Just My Type challenge! How fun! Here is my take,

22I used my “Keep Calm and Carry On” washi tape for the text and my card base is Kraft. 🙂 I got the inspiration for the card layout from this card I found on Pinterest.

I’m not usually a big collage person as far as my own cards go. I love that style, I’m just not great at it, LOL. But, I’m pretty pleased with out this one turned out. I think I really like it! 🙂

Hope you like it too!

Hello there…I’ve really been neglecting this blog lately 😦 Super busy over here, but I’m hoping to get back to a somewhat regular posting soon. 🙂

This last week for CAS-ual Fridays the challenge was to use Red, White, and Blue in honor of Memorial day. 🙂 Here is my entry…

DSCN2386The sentiment is a bit hard to see in the pic, but I embossed it in white over one of the blue stripes because I just felt that looked better than putting it above or below the stripes. 🙂

Hope you like it!

So I thought these two challenges went together extremely well this week. 🙂 For CAS-ual Fridays the theme is Chevrons and Flowers, and here is CAS(E) This Sketch #22

cts22So when I put them together I get,

DSCN2355I’m still going strong with the negative die cuts, LOL!

Hope you like it!

So the more I looked at my first card for the CAS-ual Fridays Chipboard Challenge, the more and more I didn’t like it! LOL! So I decided to do a re-do. This time I made my own chip board. Here is my re-do,

DSCN2306I really wanted to use my Trendy Tree Tops dies (they are so stinkin’ cute! I heart Maile Belles and her WHOLE Stamping Simply line!) So to make my own chip board I ripped off a flap from and old maxi pad box (I new saving those thin cardboard boxes would come in handy, hahaha 🙂 ) I covered it with two different pattern papers and then rolled them through my trusty BigKick. It took several passes, but they came out pretty cute. 😉 I took the tree trunk and also ran it through my Texture Boutique with a wood grain embossing folder so it would look more like a tree trunk. 🙂

Hope you like this one better, I do! LOL!
